Shot of the Day #197: Bloody good marketing

Shot with iphone. Click to enlarge.

Got this in the mail today, courtesy of Focus Features. Movie marketing has become a very strange art-form. Usually you get a disposable chatchki [sic] that sits on your desk or counter for a few months, idly reminding you about the film its plugging but ends up in the trash after the film comes out on DVD, unless its something like the real energy drink disguised as BOOTY SWEAT from TROPIC THUNDER or a real sword from KILL BILL....or a split Kimberly Caldwell magnet from WRONG TURN 2. But mostly...it's crap.

Now my ties to the film aside (coughscreeningnextweekatcomic-concough) this blood bag from THIRST is pretty spot-on when it comes to a tie-in that actually ties in. THIS is the type of bric-a-brac Ill proudly display on my already cluttered desk.

Dare I drink it...even though it DOES have a straw...tempting.

Joe
