KOB Shot of the Day #28: Speeding Thru Seattle

Shot with iPhone, click to enlarge.

This back-seat view of the famous Space Needle, and a 10 minute sprint to a coffee shop and a record store nearby, was about as much Seattle atmosphere I got today as we were in town for a Post house meeting (God bless the DI) and locals casting which went swimmingly.

I can't even believe I was there and back again....at least we had a nice Salmon meal and a good cup of coffee! All is well then.

The Race Continues...

KOB Shot of the Day #26: A Pub fit for KNIGHTS

Shot with iPhone, click to enlarge.

Had to quickly grab some chow on the way home but found a joint right around the corner from my pillow called THE AVENUE, which might be the NERDIEST watering hole I've ever been to. Seriously, any place that has ROAD HOUSE, TOP GUN, VISION QUEST & STAR WARS albums on the walls, comic books & lunch boxes lining the perimeter of the place AND framed shots of Mr. T, Charlies Angel's AND Tony Montana has my Per Diem.

I think we found our new standard hang out folks!

KOB Shot of the Day #24: A Flare for Love

Shot with iPhone, click to enlarge.

...36 hours in Los Angeles. Little sleep, lots to do. Almost eerie that I was on the 405 listening to Andrew McCarthy reading narrating the LESS THAN ZERO sequel, IMPERIAL BEDROOMS. My life is quickly entering a Bret Easton Ellis headspace.

With respect to the happy newlyweds, there's no need to show any actual photos from the very beautiful, very special day between two dear friends and a hell of a fun night with many MANY close ones, some of which I'd even call family in this small, strange world. But it was a perfect dusk sunlight peering through Endor-like foliage and quaint atmospheric tree-lights, enough for a quick shot to highlight the highlights. A wonderful brief diversion from the madness. So good to see everyone, be part of the proceedings and watch true love celebrated.

KOB Shot of the Day #20: The Man Comes Around (to Spokane)

Shot with iPhone, click to enlarge.

First off, thanks to everyone who not only spread the word on this lil' visual experiment Im concocting here but who complimented me by saying I looked like the dashing and debonair Peter Dinklage in yesterday's SOTD, I was touched!

But be warned: this is NOT a place for scoops (at least, not BLATANT ones ;) ), just a fun thing to do for myself to share with those who are interested in the inner workings of making a/this movie, even if its more with pictures that speak 1000 words (or at least 140 characters on Twitter) than a long winded blog-post as Im wont to do. So please feel free to stop by, say hi, but I can't promise exciting, newsworthy things every day...just whatever happens on the day.
(Chaos Reigns!)

....but again, you never know who will show up...

...Speaking of which, my good friend (and former cast member) Henry rolled into town last night to play a Spoken Word gig literally RIGHT next to my hotel, which was very serendipitous to say the least. Henry has always been a beacon of light to me, be it in spirit or even in person, like he was tonight. His 3 hour show (with not ONE water sip break which made for the best punchline in the show) was a perfect diversion from the stress and madness, and getting to hang with him after for a few after the show and before he jumped on his bus was a treat, just to talk and catch up and he was thrilled to see I was in my element again, which gave me that extra charge.

Always good to see a great friend, even for a moment.

...and like Keizer Soze... "Just like that...Pooof...he was gone"

Happy Trails Henry, and thanks for the advice!

KOB Shot of the Day #18: Good tidings, Fathers.

Shot with iphone, click to enlarge.

The cards were so nice, a much needed pick-me-up. The knife was compliments of the Steak House the other Dads and I went to to celebrate our temporary "Deadbeat" status while away from loved ones, especially the kids. But fight on we must...for the greater good, namely, make a movie one day our younglings will love.

Happy Father's Day.

KOB Shot of the Day #11: Speeding to Spokane

Shot with iPhone, click to enlarge.

Being back in L.A. for casting and SFX proofs for a couple of days was such a tease. Not being back in Los Angeles, per se, but just the slight comfort of "home" for a fleeting moment, but it was a VERY productive time.

Alas...no time for love, Docka Jones!! We got a movie to make....to the airport "Jimmi"!

KOB Shot of the Day #4: Graduation In the air

Shot with iPhone, not yours

Everywhere I turn today, High school & College graduates- all fresh-faced and full of hope-walk the streets, fill the elevators, the restaurants.

So much hope for the future, so many choices...or maybe just a few, like these sauces you see here.

Reminds me of a quote....

"I have glimpsed our future. And all I can say is.....go back."
-Diane Court, SAY ANYTHING.

My heart and the very best goes out to them...and to you.

KOB Shot of the Day #1: Spokan(do) Aerial

Shot with iPhone, click to enlarge.

Hey all,

Yeah, its been a while but Im back on the blog and thought I'd try another little experiment in the middle of this madness. To chronicle each day of my journey into THE KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM (yes, my new movie. Holy.Shit.) I want to present a SOTD type glimpse into the making of the film, my life during it, whatever happens captured in moments. Just know this wont be a Spoilery type forum for news bits (whoever cares that is) but it will allow me to have some fun and blow the dust off this thing since my vacation from the 365 day experiment last year where I spent more time typing and explaining than shooting, so Ill just let the pictures speak/whisper/scream for themselves. Also yes...Im fully aware Edgar did something similar with cryptic pictures during the filming of SCOTT PILGRIM (which I cannot wait for) and who cares? Doing the SOTD's last year (I believe even before Edgar started production on SP) was cathartic as well as creative and I hope its the same here, and as any filmmaker knows...no two shoots or even days are the same, so why not capture those moments? I hope you enjoy it...I'll enjoy trying not to give too much away and still get some compelling moments to share.
